The CPXC team got their first racing competition in 16 months against four other SCAC foes. The boys team came out of top with a 1 point margin of victory over rival Connell. For years we’ve worked to build to this point of going toe to toe with the top team in our league. The boys were led by freshman Jio Herrera and junior Joshua Courtney (2nd & 3rd overall). Three seniors rounded out our scoring top five: Dallin Hawkins (7th), Cameron Howard (10th) & Edgar Cazarez (14th).
The young girls team was paced by first year XC runner, junior Lauren Green (12th), freshmen: Alexis Fadness (14th) & Chloe Svilich (16th), and sophomores, Lena Weaver (18th) & Madison Thompson (28th).
This was a great start for both teams in our shortened season. All runners were happy to be back to competing after such a long absence, and have been working hard. We’re making the most of each day we get to train and race this season, taking nothing for granted.
Our upcoming week has us racing @ Zillah on Thursday (3 & 3:45pm), and Saturday @ Connell (noon & 12:45pm).
